Q.
What is the difference between CPA and ACCA?
A.

Q.
How many sections are there to complete the entire CPA course?
A.
There are 6 sections in 3 parts. Part 1 with section 1 and 2, part 2 with section 3&4 and part 3 with section 5 & 6.
Q.
How many years does it take to complete the entire CPA course?
 
There are 3 parts with two sections each. Each section takes 5 months therefore examination take place twice a year which makes it 3 years for the entire course. However, one could combine two sections and sit for a total of six papers per semester but only allowed if the sections are in the same part.
Q.
If I have a degree can I be exempted from doing some sections in CPA?
A.
Depending on the course and specialization, exempts students especially if they had previously done accounting courses at university level. This however lies squarely on KASNEB. They determine how and when to exempt so what we advise students is to get in direct contact with KASNEB for this.
Q.
Can one get employed with only the ATC certificate?
 
ATC is a course in itself that qualifies one for employment but students are encouraged to proceed with CPA after passing ATC as CPA is the highest professional accounting course in Kenya.
Q.
If I have passed ATC, which section in CPA do I join?
A.
. If one has passed in ATC final, they are exempted from sitting for CPA section one exams and therefore proceed with CPA from section 2 to 6.

Are there more campuses?
A.
As at now, we only have one campus located at post bank building along Moi Avenue in Mombasa.

Can one join university and be considered for exemption after CPA?
 
Some universities allow for exemption to all CPAKs for particular courses especially business related courses.

What do I become after taking an accountancy course at times?
A.
Accounting is among the most marketable courses. Every company parastatal, school church… you name them, needs an accountant. Employment is not only provided by the government but also by private organizations. With the high quality training you receive at times, you will definitely find employment.
Entrepreneurship I also one of the courses taught under CPA. This sharpens students’ skills not only to be risk takers but to take calculated risks in venturing into viable business that will pay off handsomely as well as help them contribute in nation building.One can join university at year 3 depending on the course they intend to join at selected universities.

How important are the computer packages you offer?
A.
You and I agree that with current technological changes that are very dynamic. The world is practically going digital. Book keeping as well as other record keeping activities have ceased to be manual. The computer packages are therefore not only relevant but a must have for the purpose of being competitive, efficient and on top of the game. Most employers also make it a requirement.

Do you offer other courses apart from accounting?
A.
Yes we have short ICT courses and management courses are soon coming.
Q.
What are the requirements if I want to join your college?
A.
Well this depends on what course you want to do. If it is any of the courses that are examined internally like the ICT courses, then what you require is :
A copy of your national I.D.
Two passport sized photos.
Registration and tuition fee.
For the externally examined courses:
You need to have been registered with the examining body, in this case, KASNEB and then you come with all the above mentioned requirements.
In addition you need to come with supporting documents to show that you are qualified to join the course e.g. K.C.S.E. certificate.
Q.
What is the registration process for KASNEB?
A.
Depending on what course you want to join, you have to meet all the requirements as indicated in this website on: courses offered.
Our college assists students register with KASNEB so you should come to the college with supporting documents to show prove your qualification e.g. academic certificates.
Two passport sized photos
A copy of your I.D.
These, will be certified by our college before you can fill the relevant form and then you proceed to make relevant payments to KASNEB.
All deposits in favour of KASNEB are made at NATIONAL BANK where the registration form and supporting documents are submitted also.
Q.
Can one still proceed with the next section if they didn’t pass the current?
A.
If you happen to fail a subject or more than one subject, KASNEB requires that you re-sit that paper/s before you can proceed with the other parts.
However, if you have a refer in one or more papers,you could proceed with the next section then for the exam, you sit for all the papers, i.e. the one you are re-sitting and the currents ones..If and only if they are in the same part.
